Obit: San Angelo Standard Times 18th Feb. 1984. Hirschfeld. Louis William Hirschfeld, 79 of 2614 Lindenwood, died at his residence at 9:15 p.m Thursday, February 16, 1984. Mr. Hirschfeld was born September 3, 1904 in Bastrop County, Paige, Texas. He was founder and current Chairman of the Board of Hirschfeld Steel co., Inc. with headquarters in San Angelo and branch offices in Ft. Stockton and Dallas. Mr. Hirschfeld married Odie Amanda Eisenbach on October 19, 1931 in Austin. The couple moved to San Angelo that year, and farmed north of town. During WorldWar II he served at Mathis Airfield. He began his business career as a welder and later a pipeline superintendent for Humble Oil Co., In 1945, he founded a welding shop on North Chadbourne, which grew into Hirschfeld Steel Companty by 1958. He was recognized in 1981 for his contribution to industrial growth of San Angelo. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1940 and an active member of the Rock House Sunday School class. In Trinity United Methodist Church, he served in numerous capacities on the church board. He is a former Pulliam School District trustee and past President of Lakeview Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Odie Amanda Hirschfeld;1 daughter and two sons (living), three sisters Alma Harris of Banning, Calif., Alice Barlow of Los Angeles, Calif., Louise Sanchez of Burlington, Mass.; two daughter-in-laws, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday February 18, at Trinity United Methodist Church. The officiating minister will be Rev. Chic Johnson and assisted by Rev. Grady Peters. Burial will be at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. The family request that memorials be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Wilbur Anderson, O.Z. Porter, Johnny Williams, Earl Maxwell, Kenneth Baker, and Jim Hartgraves. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Rock House Sunday School Class of Triniity United Methodist Church.
