Otto E. LaPointe, 72, a former resident of Ottumwa, died Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Desloge, Mo.
He was born in Napp, Wis., December 20, 1884, the son of Frank and Elme LaPointe. He was an evangelist most of his life and had lived in Ottumwa prior to 1944.
Surviving are his present wife, Ruth, of Desloge; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Conner of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mrs. Betty Parent of Corpus Christi, Tex.; his mother; two sons, Paul LaPointe of Ottumwa route 4 and Phillip LaPointe of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Pelzer of Catoosa, Okla., and Mrs. Harry Walker of Ottumwa; and three brothers, Orie LaPointe and John LaPointe of Ottumwa and Clarence LaPointe of Humboldt, Kan. Two sisters, his father, and his first wife preceded him in death.
The body is being returned today to the Jay Funeral Home. Private services will be held early next week. Meanwhile, friends may call at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial gifts to the heart fund, in lieu of flowers.
