Blitchton - Thomas E. Newman, 73, died Sunday evening at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Newman was a retired boilermaker from Savannah Machines and Shipyard and was a member of local union 26. He was a Army and Air Force veteran and a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church. Mr. Newman was predeceased by his wife, Erva Lee Newman and one granddaughter, Joanie Lee Newman.

Survivors: five daughters, Ranee N. Kicklighter, Evon Futch and Billie Demine, all of Pembroke, and Mary Davis and Mona Waters, both of Nicholls; five sons, Andy Newman and Steve Newman, both of Pembroke, and Paul E. Newman, Bobby L. Newman and Gary M. Newman, all of Ellabell; three sisters, Christine Willard of Richmond Hill, Sadie Jenkins and Jean Ward, both of Pembroke; three brothers, B.E. Newman Jr. of Brooklet, Edsel Newman of Savannah, and Barron Newman of Richmond Hill; one uncle, Willis Newman of Savannah; two aunts, Nell Gibson of Pensacola, Fla. and Doretha Burnsed of Savannah; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dan Bryant and David Farro officiating. Burial: Red Hill Cemetery. Morrison Funeral Home.
