George spent time as a youngster first in Ohio before moving to Hiteman, Iowa near Cedar Mines to work as the postmaster. There he met his bride-to-be Letitia Jane Moss and they were married in Cedar Mines on April 1, 1891.

In 1909, George left the family to go homesteading in Canada. He eventually settled on land in the Assiniboia area at Congress, Saskatchewan. Once the homestead was readied, Letitia and the family arrived in 1911 after a brief stay with her sister, Sarah and her husband John Morgan, who had homesteaded earlier in 1906 near Pangman, Saskatchewan.
In addition to the Congress farm, George also farmed in the area of LeVert, Saskatchewan sometime in 1931 and he would travel to visit the farm in Congress.
Letitia passed away in 1943 followed by George in 1947. Their son Chester took over the Congress family farm.

NOTE: George's mother, Elisabeth, and younger brother, Johann, disappeared from all public records shortly after their arrival in the USA. All efforts to discover their fates have proven unsuccessful to date.
