Physician, Meriden mayor, state legislator, Egyptologist, linguist, Meriden school board member, Meriden treasurer, trustee for The Connecticut School for Boys, author. He was a thirty-second degree Mason and a Shriner, a member of the Odd Fellows, the Knights of Pythias, the Elks and a number of other societies, including twenty-five scientific archaeological, anthropological, literary and historical societies. He traveled widely in Europe, Canada and the United States. Son of Timothy Fisher Davis and Moriva Hatch Davis. He married Caroline Elizabeth Harris in 1869. Survived by his wife, a son, Henry Winter Davis and a granddaughter.
