Eva Emery began writing at a very young age under the pen name "Jennie Juniper." As an adult she would author several books on Oregon including "McLoughlin and Old Oregon," "The Conquest" and "The Soul of America." She was the first author to promote Sacajewa's role, often exaggerated by her, during the Lewis and Clark Expedition and focus, as a Suffragette, on Sacajawea given a vote, which is true, in deciding whether to stay the winter on the Oregon Coast. Eva Dye was recognized in "Women of the West", a 1928 publication, which was a series of biographical sketches of living eminent women in the eleven western states of the United States of America.
