Mrs. Janelle Rachel Rickerson, 82, of Powell Mill Road, Augusta, Georgia, was called to Heaven on Sunday, December 17, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at Starling Funeral Home, Harlem, Ga., with Steve Melcher officiating. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown, Ga. Pallbearers will be nephews. She left this life in the warm embrace of her family. She was the loving wife of Willard R. Rickerson, Sr., for 59 years. She is survived by her children, Willard R. "Bubba" Rickerson, Jr., Vivian L. "Sis" Oates, Eyvonne G. "Duke" Markyna, and her loving son-in-law Edward J. Oates, Sr., all of Augusta; one sister, Sara Melcher, Grovetown; two brothers, Joseph C. "Tump" Maddox, Dearing, and Herbert Maddox, Evans; and sister-in-law Frances Cox, Evans. Grandma or Nanny, as she was lovingly called, is survived by 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant sons, Mark Vincent and William Keith Rickerson; granddaughter, Debra Jean Rickerson, and brother, Edward R. "Bill" Maddox.
