REBECCA G. ABSHEAR BOONEVILLE, KY – 28 April 2005 – Rebecca Green Abshear, 78, widow of Thomas Abshear, Owsley County Health Care Center, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2005, at the Kentucky River Medical Center, Jackson, KY, after a long illness. She was a housewife and a member of the Baptist Church. She was born in Owsley County, KY on March 3, 1927, the daughter of Claude and Mary Herald Green. She is survived by a daughter, Betty (& Gary) Oliver of Booneville, KY and a son, James (& Imogene) Abshear of Lexington, KY; two grandchildren, Ronnie Abshear and Vanessa Abshear, both of Lexington, KY; two brothers, Wallace Green of Booneville, KY and Mike Green of Lexington, KY; three sisters, Edna Huff of Florence, KY, Wilma Shouse of Beattyville, KY and Alva Bray of Franklin, OH. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2005 at the Searcy and Strong Funeral Home with Rev. Garett Thomas officiating. Visitation was held on Saturday evening from 5 – 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in the Brandenburg Cemetery with Searcy and Strong Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
