Mrs. Will Montgomery Dies Following Operation. Leaving Husband and 3 Children

Mrs. Will Montgomery, of old Buckingham died in a Traer hospital Tuesday night following a surgical operation performed Monday afternoon. Mrs. Montgomery had been troubled with gallstones fifteen or twenty years. During the past few weeks her health failed rapidly. The operation revealed that the gallbladder was in a gangrenous condition and stones had ruptured the bladder and perforated the intestines. The extensive operation contemplated was not completed when the seriousness of her condition was ascertained.

Mrs. Montgomery, who was Frances Alcorn before her marriage, was the second child in a family of eleven, born to Augustus and Isabelle Alcorn. She was born at Horn Head, County Donegal, Ireland, in 1885. She was, confirmed in the Church of England in her youth. On January 12, 1914 she was united in marriage to William Montgomery at the Dunfanaghy Episcopal church. She came to America in November 1916 to rejoin her husband who had been here a year and a half. Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery have made their home near Traer during all of the ten years of their residence in this country, uniting with the Traer United Presbyterian church in 1917. Mrs. Montgomery's father died a few years ago and a sister preceded her in death. Those of her immediate family surviving are the husband and three children. William Kenneth, Victor and Margaret Violet, her mother living in Ireland and about 73 years of age, five brothers and four sisters who are: William Alcorn, Verona, Pennsylvania; Mrs. John Alcorn, Falcarragh, Ireland; Mrs. Samuel Alcorn, Horn Head, Ireland; Mrs. James McKinley, Verona, Pennsylvania; Charles Alcorn, Horn Head, Ireland; Thomas and John, both of Belfast of Belfast, Ireland and Isabella County, Londonderry, Ireland.

The death of this young wife and mother of three little children, 3, 5 and 2 years of age, is universally deplored throughout the community. The bereaved husband is one of the leading breeders of purebred hogs in Tama county and a farmer of high repute. His wife was a kind-hearted lady a faithful partner, affectionate mother with a real desire to serve. The funeral is to be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the United Presbyterian church in Traer in charge of Rev. A. W. Martin. Burial will be in Buckingham cemetery.
