Capt. William Bryan was a son of Morgan Bryan and Martha Strode Bryan. He had, at least, three siblings.

Capt. William Bryan married Mary Boone about 1755 in North Carolina. They had, at least, eight children.

"Mrs. Jesse B. Smith, a great great grand daughter of Mary Boone Bryan presented the Family Bible to the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Edmund Pendleton Chapter, to be placed in the Duncan Tavern, Paris, Ky. A copy of this record is at the Campbell County Historical & Genealogical Society in Alexandria in the Elizabeth Cooley collection.
