Article from The Herald, Hallettsville, TX, January ___, 1893, states George Brown did not arrive home after a trip to town to sell some produce and make some purchases. People began a search and found his horses before finding Mr. Brown hanging from a limb of an oak tree. His brother Tom speculated his brother was lynched because he was instrumental in the bringing a "culprit to justice" . An inquest was adjourned until Monday. The article also appeared in the Brady City Sentinel.
