FAIRMONT - A celebration of life service for Raymond A. Johnson, 98, of Fairmont will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 11, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont.

Ray passed away Saturday morning, November 6, 2010, at the Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Raymond August Johnson was born on May 17, 1912, in Waverly Township, Truman, Minn., the son of George and Lizzie (Brieholtz) Johnson. He attended District #106 country school. He was united in marriage to Mathilda Schultz on December 31, 1935, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman. He farmed for many years in Waverly Township on the Johnson Family Farm. One of Ray's greatest joys was playing the accordion for barn dances with Marvin Carlson. He also played the accordion and his wife, Mathilda played the guitar. They played in churches, nursing homes, family occasions, fishing trips and camping vacations and they made many friends with their music. Ray and Mathilda moved into Fairmont in 2004 and Mathilda passed away in December of 2007. They were members of St. John's United Church of Christ in Fairmont.

He is survived by two sons, Harland Johnson and his wife, Delores, Dennis Johnson and his wife, Karon, all of Fairmont; two daughters, Bernyce Ziemer and her husband, Ben, of Fairmont, Melva Willaby and her husband, Leo, of Ft. Mill, S.C.; twelve grandchildren; thirty two great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Valeria Schultz, Glenda Bode, Thuesnelda Williamson and Luella Wessel; brothers-in-law, Emil, Raymond, Herbert and Lawrence Schultz; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Raymond was also preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Alma and Andrew Hartman, Lillian and Charles Buckmeier, Fern and Walter Ehlert, Verdell and Al Warnick; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leona and Harry Barge, Wilma and Leonard Brinkman, Lavera, Elsie and Bernard Schultz, Helen Schultz, Elsie Schultz, Harold Schultz, Ray Bode, Leonard Williamson and Joyce Schultz; and several nieces and nephews.
