Oldest child and only son of William and Ida (Siedelberg) Block; he had three younger sisters.

Employed by the US Post Office (later the US Postal Service) for 20 years, disability retirement in 1972. Letter carrier with walking and motor routes in Lansing and Delta Township.

Employed by Waverly Schools for 20 years, retirement in 1980s. Part-time evening custodian for administration building, Winans Elementary School and bus driver.

Retired from the Michigan National Guard, 119th Artillery, in 1970 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Was called out with the Guard to restore order during the 1967 riots in Detroit, Michigan.

Enlisted in US Army along with two of his cousins in April 1941. Retired from US Army, veteran of WWII, earned Bronze Star. Assigned to Patton's Third Army, fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

Married to Betty Jane (Inkson) Block for 45 years (her death). Couple were married at Howe Military School Chapel, Howe, Indiana, on 30 Aug 1941 during a weekend pass from his Army training. Parents of a son, born in 1944, and a daughter, born in 1956. Grandparents of five.
