Obituary Notice of Absalom Hedges Dunlap - - - Absalom H. Dunlap, an early resident of Lucas County, died in Butler County, Kansas Sept. 23, aged 86 years. He was born in West Virginia Dec 14, 1820. His parents moved to Coshocton County, Ohio, when he was about a year old. April 11th, 1843, he was married to Rebecca Meredith. In April 1853, he settled in Chariton, Lucas County, Iowa and lived in this county until September 1871, when he moved to Butler County, Kansas, where he resided until his death.

His wife died Jan 27, 1903. To them were born ten children. Those living are L.S. Dunlap, Rosehill, Kansas; J.F.M. Dunlap, Washington; J. Dunlap Udall, Kansas; Theodosia Miller, Orange, California; James A. Dunlap, Orange, California; Ella Jones, Derby, Kansas. He was converted and joined the Baptist church when he was a young man. He was ordained a minister of the gospel November 24, 1874, and continued to preach until old age and failing health prevented.
