Alice Dora Harper Hoffman Hacker was born in Peoria, Illinois. In 1881 at the age of 16 she married Charles "Chas" Hoffman on Sept 22, 1881. The couple had two children, Dollie May Hoffman [Davis Noonan] and William "Billy" Hoffman. After the couple divorced (c. 1896) Alice married William Houren on September 7, 1897 in Laporte, Indiana. The Houren's moved to Leo Valley, Greeley, Nebraska where Alice Dora continued her work as a seamstress and hat maker. William Houren worked as a shoemaker in Spaldng, Nebraska.

Around 1909 the couple moved to Sterling, Logan, Colorado. They can be found on the 1910 Colorado census. Later they moved to Springer, Colfax, New Mexico. While living there Alice Dora worked as a seamstress in a shop named Libby and Howard. Later she and William Houren moved to California where they spent their remaining years.

Alice Dora Hoffman outlived her daughter, Dollie May Hoffman Davis Noonan, her son William, and one grandson, Harold Arthur Davis.

Her son, William Hoffman married a woman named Edith and fathered a child named Wilber. William Hoffman died of a heart attack in Sterling, Colorado.

Her daughter, Dollie May, was first married to Harry Davis and then to Michael Noonan. Dollie May had 3 children by Harry Davis (one of which died in infancy) and three by Mike Noonan (one of which died in infancy).

At her death, Alice left behind several grandchildren including: Alice Marie Davis Glaser, Margaret Naomi Noonan Marshall, and George Michael Noonan. Another grandson, Wilbur Keith (of Arizona) was also listed on her death certificate. It is assumed that this is the child of her son, William Hoffman. It is unknown if Alice Dora's brothers, George and Bert Harper, were living at the time of her death.
