He was born in the Town of Remsen, Jan. 30, 1890, son of Jerry H. and Mary Louise Mayhew Worden. He was a direct descendant of Mrs. Sarah Brayton Worden, who came to Prospect from Stoningham, Conn., in 1794, with her four sons and settled on Beach Flatts, near the Prospect Spring House.
His uncle, Rev. Alonzo Teal Worden, the "preacher-poet" wrote the poem "The Black River Thaw."
Mr. Worden was a veteran of World War I. He lived with his parents on a farm at North Gage, moving to the Edwards farm in Russia before coming to Prospect in 1925.
He was a farmer and carpenter and had been employed at Griffiss Air Force Base for more than 15 years.
He was a former member of the Presbyterian Church at North Gage, and a member of Remsen Lodge 677, F&AM, Barneveld.
Survivors include two sisters, Miss Marian E. Worden, who lived with him; Mrs. Anna Roberts, Carenovia; a niece and nephew.
The funeral will be from the Pritchard-Koerner Funeral Home in Holland Patent at 2 Thursday. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Utica Observer Disptach, Tuesday, April 21, 1959
