~~James Oscar Bass, 66, 1717 10th Ave., Phenix City, Ala., died at 3:30 p.m. yesterday in a Tuscaloosa, Ala. hospital after an illness of seven weeks. ~~He was a brother of the Rev. C. H. Bass, pastor of St. Mark Free Will Baptist Cjurch, Phenix City. ~~Bass was born in Pike county, Ala. Dec 17, 1890, the son of the late E.A. [Enoch Allen] and Fannie [Miranda Frances] Renfroe Bass. He lived in Phenix City for the past 20 years, moving here from Brundidge, Ala. He was a retired textile worker at Eagle and Phenix Mill and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Phenix City. ~~Other survivors are a step-mother, Mrs. E. A. Bass, Phenix City; two sisters, Miss Millie Bass, Phenix City, and Mrs. Oscar D. Fillers, Church Hill, Tenn.; two older brothers, J.T. Bass and C.H. Bass, both of Phenix City, several nieces and nephews. ~~ Funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Trinity Methodist Church in Phenix City with the Rev. Lamar Spencer, pastor, in charge, assisted by the Rev. T. L. Junkins, pastor of Central Baptist Church of Phenix City, and the Rev. Price Hayes, pastor of St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church of Phenix City. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens. ~~Pall bearers will be J. M. Montgomery, Horace Mobley, C. D. Burnett, Roy Exurn, Richard Gunter, and Floyd Moore. ~~ Honorary pallbearers will be Riley Henson, Glenn Gibson, T. G. Riddle, Tom Raiford, J. Frank Snellings, Jr., J.R. Favors, C.M.
