After the death of his first wife, Elizabeth Ann House, Billy Brown married a widow, Ruth Harriet Bivens Tatum. They married in Hardin County, Tennessee on February 5, 1890.

William James Brown, usually referred to as "Billey Brown", was the oldest son of Lucas K. Brown and Elizabeth Vivian McGee. This family lived in Wayne County, Tennessee. Elizabeth McGee's family lived there and Billey Brown was born there. Shortly after the 1850 cencus, the Lucas K. Brown family moved to Hardin County where the family lived for several more generations. The Lucas K. Brown family moved with some of the McGee family into what is now known as the Big Ivy Community.

Billey Brown was born in 1850. He was a young man when the Civil War was ending but nothing is known about his desire to ever serve. Billy was a farmer by occupation. Not much is known about the life of Billey Brown. He died when he was only 53 years old.

Billey Brown married Elizabeth Ann House in 1875 and they had five girls, Elizabeth Ann died in 1889, leaving Billey Brown to take care of the young children. He married a widow, Ruth Harriet Bivens Tatum. She has been married to Levi Tatum and had one son, Johnie Tatum.

Billey Brown and Hattie Brown had four boys. All lived to manhood and three of them married and raised families in the Big Ivy Community. Billey Brown died 1903, leaving Hattie Bivens Twice a widow.

Hattie Brown married a third time to Milt Williams. He was a widower as his first wife, Mary J. Hitt having died in the early 1900s. Mary J. Hitt Williams is buried at Big Hill Cemetery, Hardin County. Milt and Hattie lived in the Brown home place at Big Ivy. Milton died in 1930 and was buried beside his first wife at Big Hill. Hattie died the next year and was buried beside her second husband, Billey Brown, in the Brown Family Cemetery near their home.
