PILOT MOUNTAIN - Brother Roger Dale Williams, age 66, dedicated Marine, servant of the Lord, beloved husband, devout father, grand-father and brother, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Wyoming. He was born August 27, 1944 in Bryson City, NC to the late Howard & Naomi Murdock Williams. Roger was saved on Nov. 10, 1964 and was called to preach in 1969. He became a full time Evangelist Missionary in 1981 and began The Gospel Tent Ministry. Roger was a member of Friendly Chapel Church and was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra Watson Williams of the Home; daughters & sons-in-law: Sandy & Anthony Gilley; Pilot Mountain, NC, Beth Williams; Pilot Mountain, NC & Lisa & Brian McGee; Rural Hall, NC; grandchildren: Haley & Ashley Gilley, Isaac & Ethan Williams and Bryson & soon to be Lanie McGee; God-Son: Chris Cannada; God-Daughter: Kelsey Ledford; like a son: Eddie Eaton; sister: Patricia "Sis" Bullock; Butner, NC; brothers: Howard "H.L." Williams Jr.; Durham, NC, Donald Williams; Oxford, NC, Thomie "Johnny" Williams; Oakland TN & Dannie Joe Williams; San Antonio, TX and several nieces & nephews. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendly Chapel Church, conducted by Brother Don Collins, Brother Mike Poindexter, Brother Scott Matthews & Brother Kelly Marshall with interment to follow at The Peoples Church Cemetery with full military rites to be conducted by VFW Post # 2019 of Mount Airy & Post # 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Friendly Chapel Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Sandra Williams cancer fund, PO Box 848, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. Howell-Nelson Funeral Service of Pilot Mountain is serving the family.
