Sarah Jane Sparrow was born 12 February 1856 in Richfield, Adams county, Illinois. She was the daughter of William Sparrow and Parthenia (Medlock) Sparrow.

Sarah Jane Sparrow wed James Calvin Easley in Sterling, Whiteside county, Illinois, on 4 February 1873. They resided mostly in Buckhorn, Brown county, Illinois during their early marriage. Later they also resided in Beverly Township, Adams county, Illinois; Hadley, Pike county, Illinois; and Meredosia, Morgan county, Illinois, a city called "Dosh" by the locals.

James Calvin and Sarah Jane (Sparrow) Easley had the following children, in this order: John Wesley, William Fred, Andrew Joshua, Mary Elizabeth, Nora Bell, Anna May, Clara E., George Albert, and Melvin Lee Easley.

James and Sarah were farmers.

As interesting asides: James Calvin was a twin. He had a twin sister named Mary Elizabeth. His parents were Martin Easley and Cordelia Burchett, though no one can get the tree back farther than his parents, so there might be some missing information there.

Also, Sarah Jane Sparrow's great grand uncle, Henry Sparrow, was married to Lucy Hanks. Lucy Hanks was the maternal grandmother of our Sixteenth President, Abraham Lincoln.
