Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace John LeFlore pronounced Acosta dead at the scene. "He was a good guy and easy to talk to and funny. My husband worked with Thomas and said he always made everyone laugh," said Flores. "Thomas was someone that would always keep you laughing, whether he was doing something funny or making fun of someone else." said his former neighbor Christina Garcia who knew him for about a year. "He was a good dad too. His little girl Tabatha loved her daddy." Acosta also leaves behind a teenage son Thomas Jr. and a daughter named Krysten, according to Garcia.
Mr. Thomas Joe Acosta, 38, of Navasota passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2. A visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday Nov. 4 with a parish rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Nobles Funeral Chapel. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Friday, also at the chapel with Rev. Timothy Bucek officiating. Rite of committal will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Thoams was born in Houston on Jan. 30, 1972 to Juanita Gonzales. He loved to barbecue, listen to music and hang with friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Aurelia Acosta; niece, Cecelia Acosta; and cousin Jessie Cantu. Survivors include his wife Karen Brzymailkiewicz Acosta of Navasota; mother Juanita Gonzales of Hempstead; children, Thomas Acosta Jr., Krysten Acosta, Tabatha Acosta and Makaylyn Brzymailkiewicz all of Navasota; sisters and brother-in-law Patricia and Carlos Grimaldo, and Katrina Acosta, all of Hempstead, and Vickie Gonzales of Waller; brother Augustine Acosta Jr. of Navasota; and grandparents Augustine Acosta of Huntsville, and Maria and Juan Gonzales of Grand Rapids, MI. Serving as pallbearers are Augustine Acosta, Jr., Thomas Acosta Jr., Derrick Figuerosa, Phiiip Reyes, Sammy Figueroa, Henry Flores, Fabian Figueroa, Jose Mata, Eloy Gonzales, David Vilanueva, and Carlos Grimaldo.
