A January 26, 1899 item in the Record Union describes a surprise birthday party thrown for Henry. Among the many guests was local gal Laura Parkinson, whom Henry had known since childhood.
On 13 January 1907 Henry and Laura tied the knot. Their wedding was mentioned in the local newspaper:
"WOODLAND DAILY DEMOCRAT Monday, January 21, 1907 Woodland, California
BRODERICK BRIEFS Last Sunday morning a very quiet wedding was solemnized at the parsonage of Rev. W. W. Story, when Miss Laura Parkinson became the bride of Mr. Henry G. Thiele, both well known young people of this town."
Henry and Laura moved to Sacramento and worked as stenographers during the early years of their marriage. In 1918, Henry became the Deputy County Assessor, a job he kept until his retirement.
The Thieles never had any children; whether this was by choice or biology is unknown. However, their marriage seemed a happy one, and Laura was very proud of Henry.
