He was the son of Martin and Sallie Reed.
In 1854, he married Miss Juda Seymour.
They had three children:
Jennie Reed
Julia Reed
Belle Reed

Juda Seymour Reed died.

In 1868, J.H. Reed married Margaret Evaline Duncan of Franklin.

Mr. Reed's occupation was a miller.

Died from a heat stroke in Chicago.
Civil War Vet. Sergeant, CO H, 101 Illinois Volunteer Infantry.

Brother of Mrs. J.W. Spires.
His body was brought back to Franklin. Burial in Reed Cemetery. (but his tombstone is in Franklin cemetery, perhaps his remains were removed from Reed cemetery and reinterred)
