Mrs. Sarah E. Jones was born in Bedford co., Va., March 15, 1790. She died at her residence in Sumner co., Tenn., June 17, 1869. She professed religion in her 23d year, and joined the M. E. Church. She was early taught by her pious mother to know and fear God. Those instructions were not lost, for she gave her heart to the Saviour in early life. She was devoted to God, to his Church, and to the means of grace. Her house was always a loved and pleasant retreat for the weary itinerant minister. She was an affectionate mother, and famed for her hospitality and benevolence, ever willing and ready to lend a helping-hand to the suffering and needs. She was a very liberal supporter of the Church to which she belonged.
