OBITUARY---
Vernon Jones
After a brief stay at Mercy Hospice Johnston, Vernon Jones, 97, passed away from general debility on November 8, 2010.
Vernon was born in Albia and was raised in Melcher-Dallas, IA. He proudly served in the 8th Fighter Command during WW II and was stationed in England. After returning from the war, he married H. Maxine Altenburger in 1946 and they moved to Des Moines in 1950. Vernon was employed by Solar Aircraft and later retired from Massey Ferguson.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 64 years Maxine, his son Duane Jones (Nardi), Des Moines, and two grandsons, Brandon Jones, Berkeley, CA and Bryce Jones, Peoria, AZ.
Visitation will be held at McLaren's Chapel at Resthaven Cemetery on November 11, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. A family burial is planned.
The family suggests memorials be made to Windsor United Methodist Church, 6222 University Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50311.
