Mrs. Briody had lived in Roseburg for many years before moving to Reedsport in 1975.

Adeline was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved cooking and extending her hospitality in both her home and through church activities. Mrs. Briody enjoyed flowers and gardening in her yard.

For many years she was a teacher and director for the Jan-Hill Nursery School at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Reedsport where she was a church member.

In April 1999, her husband of 22 years, Leonard Briody, passed away.

Survivors include her children: Ronald A. Hjort and wife Bernice of Oakland, OR; Donald Hjort of Vancouver, WA; Gwendolyn Crane and husband Claude of Umpqua, OR; Roberta Hjort of Seattle, WA; Jon Hjort and wife Rhonda, also of Oakland, OR; step-children: Susan Dumke and husband Paul of Lakewood, CO; Bonnie Grisso and husband Robert of Bakersfield, CA; Kathleen Waite and husband Loyd of Prosser, WA; William Briody and wife Karen of Federal Way, WA; Thomas Briody and wife Barbara of Turner, OR; and Robert Briody of Bellingham, WA. Grandchildren: Erica, Anna, Sarah, Heather, John, Kyle, Brett, Lindsie, Logan, Michael, LaRhonda, Ronnie, Christine, Emily, Angela, Nicolas, Brian, George, Steven, Melissa, and Brant, and 13 great-grandchildren, a sister, Emmie Boston of Waukesha, WI, a brother, Harry Rostagno of New Smyrna Beach, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
