Jacob Boston Longbottom was the son of Thomas Longbottom and Margaret Ellen Boston. He married Esther Firth on October 30, 1888 in Washingtonville, Ohio. They were the parents of George, Earl Gordon, Chester and Emily Mae.

At the time of his death, Jacob worked as a custodian at Rimer School in Kenmore (Akron) Ohio and was one of the founding members of the Akron Baptist Temple.
