from the Alma Enterprise, Friday, October 10, 1913, page 5:
"Charley Clark Dead - Again the Enterprise is called upon to chronicle the passing away of an old and excellent citizen of our country who has been a friend to many of us for nearly two score of years. Charley Clark died at his home near Vera at 8 o'clock Sunday morning of paralysis, aged 77 years and two months. Charley Clark was born at Terre Haute, Ind., Aug. 1, 1836, and came to this county in 1878, settling on the farm where he has since lived and died. He was honest and square with all men, a splendid neighbor and a loyal friend. For over 20 years, the writer has enjoyed a warm personal friendship with Charley Clark and has never been disappointed in him. Mr. Clark was married three times. Of the children in the first family, Mrs. Lee Wilson of Maple Hill and Mrs. Geo. Tiffey of Logan, Iowa, are living. To the second are Fred Clark, Harvey Clark, William Clark, Ross Clark, Mary Clark, and Martha Bundy, all of whom live in the county. He was married the last time in 1900, and his widow survives him. All were present at his funeral except the son Fred who arrived from Oklahoma too late. Mrs. Guilford Clark and children of Mulhall, Ok., were also here to the funeral, which occurred Monday afternoon from the home on Dog Creek, Rev. Shumate officiating. He was buried at the Bethlehem Cemetery on Snokomo. Mr. Clark had made plans to have a big celebration and reunion on his birthday, Aug. 1st, but just before that time he got the sad news of the death of his son, Guilford at Mulhall. After his return, he did not seem well, and about Sept. 12th, he was stricken with paralysis and never rallied. We have all lost a good friend and our sympathy is extended to the family."

from the Eskridge Tribune-Star, Thursday, Oct. 23, 1913, page 1:

To this union, six children were born, four sons and two daughters. The mother and sons all preceded him to the Father Land. He was married again to Emeline DeVore Nov. 21, 1875. To this union, six children were born, four sons and two daughters. This wife departed this life July 2nd, 1900. He was married again to Ella Miller Nov. 29, 1905. There is left to mourn his loss his widow, 8 children, 20 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, 5 brothers, and a score of friends. He settled on his farm in the fall of 1878, north of Eskridge, where he lived continuously till his death. The country has lost a good citizen, the home a loving husband and father. These mourn, but not as those that have no hope. Elder Shumate was called to speak words of comfort to the sorrowing. May God comfort and strengthen them for the burden of life."

One-fourth of the estate is willed to his widow, and the balance is to be divided equally between his nine children. Ross Clark and Flora Wilson are named as the executors and will hold a public sale of the personal property at the farm on Saturday, Oct. 18th. See the adv."
