Mattie and Wilborn both worked for the Monarch Equiptment company in Louisville Kentucky. They moved to Atlanta, Georgia where Mattie worked for many years for the Ford Motor Company.
Aunt Mattie was a devoted wife and a loving aunt all her life. She and Uncle Wilborn did not have children.

Mattie Trent Pierce, 96, of Louisville, passed away Monday, March 6, 2006, at Rockford Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Breathitt County, KY and was a long time resident of Louisville before moving to Atlanta, GA where she worked for the Ford Motor Company. Prior to moving to Georgia, both Mattie and Wilborn, her late husband who died in 1967, were employed by the old Monarch Equipment Company.
Although childless, Mattie leaves behind many relatives and friends who she loved and were loved by. These include sisters-in-laws, Sudie Lee Pierce Ferguson of Dallas, TX, Patricia Pierce of Jackson, MS, and Gertheen Pierce of Woodville, TX. Also left were nieces and nephews, Lynda White of Dallas, TX, Suzanne Barfield of Silsbee, TX, Celeste Pierce Carty of Brookhaven, MS, James Pierce of Madison, MS, Hugh Vernon Pierce of Beaumont, TX, Vick Harvey and Dick Harvey of Houston, TX, Nancy Pierce Klinedinst and Dan Pierce of Jackson, MS, Kevin, Richard, and Dr. John Rice of Louisville, KY; and close friend and caregiver, Edith Roth.
