Mr. Felt was born in Michigan in 1854 and came to Hamilton County in 1879, and located on Bear Creek between what is now the Comanche road and the Leon River. He ran sheep and some cattle on his large ranch, and was a pioneer in importing fine blooded Merino sheep into this county. For years he was considered the biggest sheep grower in this section.

In 1891 he took over a flour mill located where the Wheeler Pigg gin now stands, and operated it for some time. [2002–the location of Hamilton Public Library.] From 1892 to 1898 he was in the livestock commission business in Kansas City. He then returned to Hamilton and built a small mill where the Hamilton Mill & Elevator Company now stands. [On South Railroad Street north of Kooken Field.] He died in 1920.

Mrs. Felt, formerly Miss Nellie L. Holland of Jackson, Mich., now lives in Hamilton with her daughter, Mrs. John R. Eidson. Her son, Wright Felt, lives at Hollywood, California. One sister, Mrs. H. C. Crews, lives at Mounds, Oklahoma.
