Mr. Kohlmeyer first joined Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 128th Infantry, of the Wisconsin National Guard in August of 1931. He was honorably dicharged as a Private First Class, in June of 1934. On November 14, 1934 he joined the United States Navy at La Crosse, Wisconsin. He served honorbly until discharged as a Radioman 2nd Class, in December of 1945. He was awarded the Navy Good Conduct medal, World War II Victory medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal, American Theater Campaign medal and Marksman Badge. He saw sea duty on the USS Chicago, USS Marblehead, and the USS Vincennes.
