Sheldon was born in Merrill on July 29, 1936 the son of Gust F. and Hattie Reinke Ney.
A 1954 graduate of Merrill Senior High School, Sheldon was a veteran of service with the Wisconsin National Guard and the Army Reserves. He was employed as machinist with L.E. Jones Company of Marinette. An avid outdoorsman, Sheldon enjoyed hunting and fishing and also bowling.
Sheldon is survived by his seven sisters, Erna Hustin and Elsie Powers both of Manistee, MI; Marion Kautzer, Manitowoc; Beulah Erickson of Merrill; June (Danny) Price of St. John's, MI; Nathalie (William) Borchardt of Wausau and Vivian (Cary) Albright of Merrill. He was preceded in death by his parents Gust and Hattie and his grandparents Emily and Julius Reinke Sr. and Henry and Emilie Ney Sr.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 14, 1996 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Town of Pine River. The Rev. David Kaare officiated. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Pine River.
