May Jessie (Bering) Tuenge, 84, of Port Orchard died April 5, 2002, in Port Orchard of complications from a stroke. She was born Oct. 1, 1917, in Richey, Mont., to Walter A. and Amanda (Mathieson) Telford. She attended high school in Silverdale. She married Samuel P. Bering on July 2, 1935, in Port Orchard. He preceded her in death in 1978. She married Otto "Bud" Tuenge on June 4, 1983, in Port Orchard. He preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Tuenge was a homemaker. She also had worked as a playroom attendant with the Hi-Joy Bowl in Port Orchard for 20 years. She was a member of Eagles Auxiliary 2338 in Port Orchard. She enjoyed bingo and travel, having visited Hong Kong, Europe, Hawaii and Alaska. Survivors include four sons, Samuel P. Bering Jr. of Port Orchard, Harry A. Bering of Tacoma, Bobby L. Bering of Albion, Ind., and Gerry D. Bering of Anchorage, Alaska; four daughters, Dorothy M. Rhines of Tacoma, Kathleen B. Fox of Bellingham and Ilene J. Hawley and Judy E. Patton, both of Port Orchard; a sister, Anne Matthieson of Wenatchee; 46 grandchildren; 100 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Stephens and Jule Vance; and two brothers, George and Arthur Telford. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Inter-ment will be in Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard. An online memorial can be seen at www.rill.com.
