Joe was a farmer and carpenter. He worked on many of the homes near Placid, including the home that he built himself for his wife, Nora. They lived in this home for only six months, as he died of injuries suffered when he was trampled by a horse he was trying to lead through a gate. Joe died at his home on his six month wedding anniversary, August 11, 1920.
