Dale had lived in this area all his life. He married Mary Henry on Feb. 28, 1959, in McAlester. He was a butcher and had a long career in McAlester. He started out working at Matt's 6th Street Grocery before going in as a partner at Danny and Dales Grocery on West Cherokee. He then worked at Worthen's Grocery on Strong and then Clifton's Grocery on A and Cherokee. After that he worked at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary and at Sears delivering appliances. Finally, in 1976, he opened Kay's Meat Processing and operated the business until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed reading, watching sports, playing dominos, fishing and woodworking, but his greatest joy was his family. He was a longtime member of Peaceable Valley Church. Dale passed away at his home south of McAlester at the age of 72. Survivors include his wife, Mary Kay, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jerrie and Harold Rowell, of McAlester, and Gale and Ed Wilson, of Sapulpa. Also, one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Dana Kay, of McAlester; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Muriel Walker, of McAlester. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jack Kay. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at Brumley-Mills Chapel with the Rev. John McNeal officiating.
