James D. Vance, age 80, of Green Forest, AR passed away on August 29, 2010. He was born in Gurdock, Nevada on October 5, 1929.

Mr. Vance served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, where he earned several Military Medals. He was employed most of his life for Atlas Van Lines and Bekins, out of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was both a furniture mover and a truck driver.

James moved his family to Arkansas and settled in Carroll County around 10 years ago. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and believed in living life to its fullest.

He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Vance of Green Forest, one son, Joel Vance of Green Forest and one grandson, Payton Riley Gardner also of Green Forest. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and one son.

Celebration Of Life Services will be 4:00 PM Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest.
