Thomas is the son of Daniel D. and Matilda S. (Jenkins) Prosser. He was married three times:
His first marriage was to Rose Faircloth, April 13, 1865. They had at least 5 children: a baby that died at birth, Lawrence, Minerva, Austin & Florence (twins).
Thomas's second marriage was to a Mrs. J. Harvey of Waterloo, Iowa on June 26, 1892. They had no children.
Thomas's third marriage was to Mary Ann (Young) Olson. They were married around 1896 in Des Moines, IA. They had one child, Anna.

Thomas served in the Civil War - he was in change of Transport for the Union Army.
