Earle R. Bee, 89, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, at Worthington Manor Nursing Home. He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late George W. and Mattie Hardman Bee.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and an active member of Baptist Temple. He retired after more than 40 years as an optician in affiliation with Doctors Cochran, Robinson, Conrath and Hall.

He was a member of American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1118, Parkersburg, Ohio Valley Literary Group, and W.Va. Poetry Society. He was a tutor for Literacy Volunteers of America. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Mary L. Day Bee; two sons, Billy E. Bee of Parkersburg and Robert E. Bee of Lansing, Mich.; one grandson; two granddaughters; and five great-grand-children.

He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Bee; three brothers; and two sisters. Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. William R. Thomas officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
