CHICKAMAUGA, GA - Linton Jackson Anderson Jr., 89, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010. He retired as Vice President and Manager of the Electrical Department of Southeastern Electric Supply Company after 32 years of service.
He graduated from Gordon Lee High School and attended the University of Chattanooga prior to entering the U.S. Navy during World War II where he participated in nine invasions in the South Pacific, he played two years of Professional Baseball with the Chicago Cubs Organization.
He was a 50-year member of the Crawfish Masonic Lodge #300, a member of Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the Building Committee and the Administrative Board. He was also a Charter Member of the Chickamauga Lions Club and served on the board, as well as, the Chickamauga City School Board, and the Walker County Planning Commission.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Linton Jackson Anderson Sr. and Ruth Asberry Sartin Anderson, sister, Virginia Bowman.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Henry Anderson; sons, Ronnie (Dianne) Anderson, of Chickamauga, GA, Lindy (Debbie) Anderson, of Ponte Vedra, FL; daughter, Becky Anderson, of Chickamauga, GA; three grandsons, Andy and Adam Cross, and Dane Anderson.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church, in Chickamauga, GA.
Interment will follow in Rock Spring Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Homes - J. Avery Bryan Chapel, Chickamauga, GA.
