Deloris J. Hand, 69, of Mt. Carmel, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010.
She was born Oct. 10, 1940 in Bridgeport, to Cecil and Printhe (Shipley) Blackwell.
She worked as a CNA and formerly attended the Highway Church of God.
Deloris is survived by one son, Dr. Mikel Hand and his companion Thomas Sheen of Jacksonville, Ill.; two daughters, Virginia Hughes and husband Greg of Bridgeport, and Janice Zellers and husband Brad of Hutsonville, Ill.; four sisters, Imogene Marx and husband Charles of Sumner, Shirley Crawford and husband Paul of West York, Ill., Margorie Vaughn and husband Russell of Robinson, and Barbara Duncan and husband Charles of Olney; four grandchildren, Christina Arvin, Alonzo Hughes, Tyler Zellers and Calista Hughes: one great-grandchild, Gracelyn Arvin: four step-great-grandchildren, Brittany, Tiffany, Brian and Cassy Arvin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Charles, George and Hershel Blackwell.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 13, at Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery (Bridgeport City Cemetery).
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Research Foundation or the Bridges of Hope of Mt. Carmel.
