Donald L. Farley, age 70, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010, the result of a tragic vehicle accident in Northern Wisconsin. He was born February 12, 1940, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the son of the late Walter and Edith (Jackson) Farley.

Don was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, a member of the Class of 1958. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force working as a Chaplain's Assistant during the Vietnam War. On February 8, 1963 he married Cynthia R. Walker while home on leave from the Air Force. They were married for 36 years until she preceded him in death on May 8, 1999. Don worked for many years in various manufacturing companies prior to owning and operating Anna Marie Designs, Inc. in Ashland, WI and Hurley, WI, becoming a valued member of both communities.

He gave his all in everything he did, always looking forward-never looking back. There wasn't a "mountain" he didn't think he could conquer. Don's proudest moments were the times he spent with his family, "sneaking" things to his grandkids while thinking we didn't know. He would've given us the world if he could have and we loved him more than he ever knew.

He is survived by his three children, Dawn (Barry) Guell - Plymouth, WI, Dean (Christine) Farley - Sheboygan, WI & Craig (Tricia) Farley - Manitowoc, WI., 6 grandchildren, Evan and Mason Guell, Dean, Ethan and Jacob Farley & Cynthia "Thia" Farley and 4 step-grandchildren, Angela and Tyler Guell & Wyatt and Malachi Keehan. Don held a special place in his heart for Debbie Abel and her daughters Becky and Beth and their families. He is further survived by his brother, Walter F. Farley – Henderson, NV, a sister, Linda (Richard) O'Grady – Romeoville, IL, a brother-in-law, Jan J. (Phyllis) Walker – Franklin, WI, nieces & nephews and many colleagues and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 7 P.M., Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the United Presbyterian Congregational Church in Ashland with Dr. Darrel Robertson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7:00 P.M., Thursday at the church. Interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. The Roberts Funeral Home in Ashland is handling the arrangements.

Victims in snow-related fatal crash identified

Nov. 15, 2010 | Town of Keystone - Authorities in northern Wisconsin have released the names of the two drivers killed this weekend in a snow-related collision.

Bayfield County Sheriff's Lt. Dan Clark said Monday the drivers were 62-year-old Paula Rouse of Hurley and 70-year-old Donald Farley of Ashland.

Rouse's 32-year-old daughter was also injured. Her condition wasn't immediately known Monday.

Clark said there were probably only a few inches of snow on the ground when the crash happened Saturday morning. But he said one stretch of road near the Town of Keystone went from rain to snow and ice in a short distance.

Rouse and Clark were the only fatalities in a day that saw hundreds of other collisions in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Authorities said none of those involved anything worse than minor injuries.
