Mrs. Hattie B. Oast, wife of Fred Oast, died of meningitis yesterday afternoon in the family home at 1304 Second street, Juniata. Mrs. Oast was sick for three weeks. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Bowser, Sr., both deceased, and was born on January 16, 1880, in Leavenworth, Kansas. Since she was about 7 years of age she was reared and lived in the Altoona district and here in 1897 she became the wife of Fred Oast, a Juniata shopman. Surviving with the bereaved husband are three children: Victor, Marion, and Dorothy, all at home. Also surviving the deceased lady are one sister and three brothers: Mrs. Jane Hanley of Juniata; the Rev. H. G. Bowser of Franklin; C. M. and J. S. Bowser of this city. Mrs. Oast early in life gave her heart to God and was a sincere worshiper in the Wesleyan faith. She was for many years a member and persistent worker in the First Methodist Episcopal church of Juniata. She was the teacher of Standard class No. 3 of ladies in the Sunday school and was also identified with other departments of church work. Service over her remains will occur on Monday afternoon in the late home of the deceased. Interment will be made in Grandview cemetery.
