~0bit~The death angel has entered the home of one of the most respected citizens of Northern Linn county and has carried away the beloved wife, leaving the home lonely and shrouded in deep sadness. For the husband and the children who are now suffering one of the greatest sorrows of life. The News has the truest sympathy, and in this it but voices the feeling of the host of friends of the family. Mrs. P. Ondler passed away Sunday moning at 5:30, after a lingering illness. She had been suffering for several years from an affection of the throat, but was thought to be improving in health until last Fraiday, when unfavorable symptoms developed and she gradually sank to death. Funeral services were held at Troy Mills Wednesday, being conducted by Rev. Palmer, of Cedar Rapids. Hundreds of friends gathered to pay their last respect to the dead. An obituary will be given next week.
~0bit~Mrs. Philip Ondler, whose maiden name was Miss Sally Sherrets, was born in Caroll County, Ohio, on January 11, 1834, and died at her home near Walker January 16, 1898, aged 64 years and 5 days. She was united in marriage to Philip Ondler April 2, 1854 in Carroll County, Ohio. Ten years later they removed to Iowa, settling at Quasqueton, where they resided for two years. A few years later they located on the present homestead. To them were born thirteen children, eleven of whom are living, eight sons and five daughters. They are William Cyrus Ondler, Albert Leroy Ondler, Mrs. Malinda C_____ Fairchild, Mrs. Amanda
Mahala Carson, Ira Elliott Ondler, Madison Melville Ondler, John W____ Ondler, Mrs. Cora Elizabeth Helbig, Mrs. Rhoda Ann Laird, Phillip Harley Ondler, and Fred Perry Ondler. With the exception of the eldest daughter, who lives in Florida, all were present at the funeral. For several years, Mrs. Ondler had been a patient sufferer, and but a short time before her death she was thought to be improving in health. But alarming symptoms developed and in a short time she had passed from this life. She is survived by her husband, eleven children and twenty-five grand-children. Interment was made in the Troy Mills cemetery, the sermon being preached by Rev. Palmer, of Cedar Rapids.

Mother
A precious one from us has gone
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled
God in his wisdom has recalled
The boon his love hath given
Although the body molders here
The soul is safe in Heaven
