MILTON - Alberta Alma Barrows, 96, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 in the St. Albans Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Alberta was born in Omaha, Neb. on Dec. 14, 1913. She was married to Floyd Barrows and together farmed and raised 11 children in Milton.

They retired and moved to Baker Lane, where she lived from the late 60's until the early nineties. She lived with her daughter, Paula, on East Road for 15+ years. She never turned down a good game of cards and loved to dance. Her crocheted doilies adorn many tables of her family.

In addition to Floyd, Alberta was predeceased by her 11 children: her daughters, Janice Dewyer, Mildred Hathaway, Nancy McDonald and Paula Wilcox; and her sons, Ben, Eldon, Robert, Donald, James, Keith and Wayne Barrows. She is survived by her daughters-in-law and son-in law, Larry Wilcox, Ila Barrows, Ruth Barrows and Eleanor Barrows, all of Milton; by Rita Rock of Colchester; and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A special thanks to her grandchildren, Kathy Barrows, Dawn Wheeler and Dan Wilcox for all they did for her.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. A Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m. following visiting hours in the funeral home.

Burial will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Georgia Plains Cemetery.
