Sam. V. McQueen, 84, of Barbourville, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 in the VA Medical Center in Lexington. He was a son of the late William and Leona Smallwood McQueen born on April 10, 1926 at Crane's Nest.

Mr. McQueen was a former painter and believed in the Baptist faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post 69 and enjoyed reading the newspaper and visiting with friends. He faithfully served our country in the United States Army during World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James McQueen; a sister, Edith McQueen and his son, Danan McQueen.

Survivors include his niece and caregiver, Carrie Baker and fiancé, Chester Bullock of Barbourville; a great nephew, who he loved as a grandson, Christopher Hubbard of Barbourville; a niece, Christina Baker of Detroit, MI; the Baker family of Smokey; among other loved ones and dear friends.

A graveside service will be conducted in the Barbourville Cemetery, Friday, November 19 at 11:30 A.M. with Rev. James Vandy officiating. Military funeral honors will be given by the American Legion.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Expressions of sympathy may go to Knox Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
