FRANKTON, Ind. — Melvin C. Gosser, 83, of Frankton, passed away on Nov. 17, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, following an extended illness.
Melvin was born on January 30, 1927, to Bennie and Ida (Fields) Gosser in Barren County, Ky. Melvin retired in 1990 as a electrician for Delco Remy. On Nov. 21, 1953, he married Janice (Hughes) Gosser she survives.
He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church of Anderson and was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army.
Melvin is survived by his loving spouse Janice of Frankton; two daughters, daughters, Susan Kay Brooks of Anderson and Cathy Gail and (David) Collins of Napersville, Ill.; six grandchildren, Mellissa Brooks, Thomas Brooks, Katelyn Brooks, Janice Collins, David Collins, Benjamin Collins; three brothers, Robert and (Jean) Gosser of Louisville, Ky., Ralph and (Wilma) Gosser of Corbin, Ky. and Isac and (Betty) Gosser of Mt. Hermon, Ky.; two sisters, Pearlie May Wilson of Elizabeth Town, Ky. and Joyce and (Roddie) Morgan of Glasco, Ky.; sister-in-law, Peggy Gosser of Lebonon, Ind.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Garold Gosser; son-in-law Steve Brooks; brother, Cecil Gosser.
Private graveside services were held Friday at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Edgewood Baptist Church 3743 Nichol Ave. in Anderson.
Arrangements have been entrusted by Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton.
