Anderson was a farmer and he served as a Confederate soldier during the Civil War. He was the son of Nancy Jones and William H. Marshall.

Alderson Letter
Mr Anderson Marshall, a well known old citizen died at Rocky Point, on the 29th ult, aged 70 years. Mr Marshall left twelve children, 78 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He was for many years a member of the Baptist church.

Note: Rocky Point later became Sinks Grove
