Doris I. Lloyd, 78, of Cambridge, died Saturday (Oct. 13, 2007) at Southeastern Med.
She was born Nov. 26, 1928, in Holiday's Cove, W.Va., daughter of the late Rolley Ellis Alloway and Martha Alloway.
Mrs. Lloyd served as a teacher for one year at Madison High School and 43 years at Cambridge High School.
She graduated with honors from Cambridge High School in 1946 and in 1953 from Muskingum College, where she was an active member of the Student Council, Kona Club and Phi Sigma Iota. She later took graduate courses at Ohio University.
During her 44 years as an educator she was able to have a positive influence on thousands of individuals, having taught courses in English, Spanish, secretarial studies, business law, shorthand, typing, keyboarding, formatting and desktop publishing.
She was a member and advisor on numerous committees during her 44 years. She was a member of various women leadership and business clubs during her working years, including the Cambridge Pilot Club.
In her free time she enjoyed reading, designing clothes and sewing.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Alloway and Russell Pryor.
She leaves her husband, Thomas R. Lloyd III; a son, Thomas R. Lloyd III of Cambridge; a sister, Ruth Ann Price of Cambridge; nieces, Jennifer Pointer of Cambridge, Vicki Foster, Louise Prescott and Ellen Attridge; nephews, Jamie Price of Cambridge, John and David Lloyd.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery.
