Richard A. Maddox left this world on June 20th at 3:55 PM at his residence.

He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, October 3, 1925, the son of Roy and Lela Maddox.

He attended elementary school and two years of high school at Exeter California before joining the Navy. Richard was on the USS Hobson during the invasion at Normandy and Southern France, then to the Pacific for the Phillippine Liberation and on to Japan on the USS Alcor. After his discharge he finished high school at San Jose, California.

He worked 33 years with IBM which took him to many states before retiring at Columbia, Tennessee, prior to moving to WV. Richard is a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, the Knight of Columbus and American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg, he volunteered at Columbia Tennessee Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital in Parkersburg.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn and his children, Richard (Kathy) Maddox II of Sacremento, CA., Mitzi Lee (Richard) Jasnicki of Alpharetta, GA., and Sheri (Garry) Miles of Gardner, MT.

Also Kathryn's caring children, Rachel Cae Dix of Virginia Beach, VA., Dee Ann (Steve) Hasulo of Canada and his loving sister, Reba Madean Gonsalves of San Jose, CA., 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Kay Wirth.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with a wake service at 8 PM.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Tuesday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Peterson as celabrant.

Burial at Mt.
