Hilda is the daughter of Johan and Mary Jane Stueve nee Bess. is the dear sister to Ida, Edna, and William Peter Stueve. She was raised on Red Rock Road in Crosstown, MO (County Road 350). They later moved farther down that same road into a small cabin built into a bluff overlooking The Omete Creek. At that time the property was owned by George Wohmhauser whom moved to the St. Louis area. This property is now owned by a member of the Klaus family. Her son known as Mayford (Edward) and Toogie had also resided in the cabin for some time. Mayford would walk down to the Mississippi river to catch and clean fish so he could sell them for 5 Cents a pound. She was a confirmed Lutheran
Hilda married Edward Lee Clary in St. Charles, MO on April 7, 1928. They lived at Country Road 316 in Perry County, MO. She was known to do laundry services in the local area. Some of the same customers her husband Edward sold meat products to were her customers as well. She had two children with Edward her first son Elwood and her second son Edward.
She later remarried to Arved O. Kluender and had 2 children with him. They are both still living.
Hilda's sister Edith (Ida Margaretha Stueve) is buried at Zion Lutheran in Crosstown, MO she doesn't have a memorial stone. Her sister Edna is buried in Perryville Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery alongside her husband Paul A. Heise. Her brother William Peter Suteve is believed to be buried in Crystal City, MO. Hilda is buried alone, both of her husbands are buried in Home Cemetery in Perryville MO. Hilda's name was misspelled on her tombstone as "Helda" She is buried in the same cemetery as my wife's Grandmother. I find it eerie that though they never walked the same path in life they both found their way to the same cemetery.
Hilda's bible was acquired by Ernest Lee Clary in May of 2004 then given to Ernest youngest daughter in February 2023.
In September of 2006 a tornado touched down in Crosstown doing untold amounts of destruction. Hilda's childhood home was damaged and bulldozed on October 14, 2006.
